Learn the Traditional Way at The Fun-Tastic Tembi Tourism Village
Not too long ago, in 1994, an Australian citizen named Warwick Pursen Larsen stumbled upon a small village near Yogyakarta. As he entered the village, he was immediately enchanted by its charming countryside. This led to the establishment of the Tembi Tourism Village, a place where you can learn and participate in various traditional activities.
The village faced a major challenge when Mount Merapi erupted in 2006. Despite this natural catastrophe, the village survived and transformed itself into what it is today: a fun-filled destination filled with exciting activities and breathtaking sights.
Alluring Attractions
The Tembi Tourism Village offers a wide array of attractions that will surely captivate visitors of all ages. One of the highlights is the batik gallery, where you can witness the process of making distinctive handmade batik fabrics. You even have the opportunity to learn how to make your own batik creations. If you’re more inclined towards accessories, friendly locals are also willing to teach you how to make wallets, baskets, and other handicrafts.
Aside from the batik gallery, there are other must-visit places in the village. You can explore cute cottages that exude an old-world charm or visit the unique restaurant that serves delicious local cuisine. Don’t forget to drop by the lovely art gallery as well. Another interesting spot is Rumah Budaya Tembi Museum (Tembi culture museum), which houses an impressive collection of traditional items such as Javanese tools, kris (traditional asymmetrical dagger), spears, farming tools, and gamelan (musical instrument).
A Journey of Learning
If you have a passion for cooking or simply want to explore local flavors, the villagers are more than willing to teach you how to prepare authentic dishes such as tempe dele (a soy-based food) and sagon (a traditional coconut cookie). The best part? You can enjoy the fruits of your labor while continuing your exploration of the village.
The adventure doesn’t end there. The village offers a wide range of activities that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the local culture and lend a helping hand to the villagers. You can try plowing the fields, catching ducks or eels, exploring the rice fields, building scarecrows, and much more.
We adore this village because it offers endless opportunities for unforgettable experiences. So why wait? Book your journey now and embark on an authentic Indonesian adventure!
